My dad tested positive for Covid-19 on July 23rd and was having some shortness of breath, and not feeling well overall. He has had asthma since he was a child so the shortness of breath was concerning. On July 25th I took him to the emergency room, and his oxygen saturations were in the 60's. They admitted him to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital on high flow oxygen. He was teetering the line of intubation. He has been in the intensive care unit for almost 2 weeks at this point, and starting to work with physical therapy. When he gets up his oxygen saturations drop, when he talks his oxygen saturations drop. This has been a long hard road for him and my mom, (the hospital does not allow visitors with the Covid restrictions), and we are just trying to get his oxygen levels under control, and get his lungs strong enough that he has some reserve and can tolerate activity.
My dad nor mom are people that would ever ask for help so here I am asking for them. My dad is self-employed and runs a pool business. We are not sure what is going to happen with the business at this point, and they aren't getting their normal income coming in. They also have the burden of this medical bill, which he will be in the hospital for at least another two weeks.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR TEXT MY DAD OR MOM AS THEY ARE BOTH STRUGGLING WITH THIS SITUATION. If you would like to send a card I can give you an address to send it to.
