Mike Schroeder

On October 31st, Mike Schroeder passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Gwangju, South Korea. We do not yet know the cause of death and will not have access to that information for at least a month or so.

After having moved to South Korea in 2010, Mike had been planning to move back to the United States with his long-term partner, Maria, in the very near future and had spent the past year taking the necessary steps to make that transition. To have lost him before he made his upcoming exit has been a tragic shock to those who had been looking forward to welcoming him back to the country.

It is with an incredible amount of pain and sadness that we say goodbye to a great man whose absence is felt around the world by those who have had the privilege of calling him a friend or shared in moments of solidarity over strong drinks and solid tunes.

This GoFundMe was created to honor Mike's legacy and to offer an alternative avenue for financial assistance, specifically for those who do not live in South Korea but still wish to contribute.

Donations will be used to help recuperate costs for the funeral and transporting Mike back home and to his family in Minnesota. Whatever money might be left over will be sent to his family.
