For those who know Mike, know him to be a funny, witty, and friendly guy. He is the kind of guy that you could sit around the table for hours and talk about absolutely nothing at all and laugh the whole time while doing so. Mike is a man of many words but you will never hear him complain about his physical setbacks that he has struggled with his entire life. Mike was born with CMT, (Charcot-Marie-Tooth) a disease that causes muscle weakness and loss of sensation in the lower legs and feet. In 2009, Mike developed an infection in his left foot that went into the bone, resulting in the amputation of his left lower limb. Through many hours of therapy, great prosthetic doctors and the unflinching desire to live a normal life, he excepted his new life as an amputee. Mike was able to go back to work, hunt, fish, and do everything he able to do before the loss of his limb. Life was good!

Until July 27, 2021, when Mike went to the ER and was later admitted to St. Mary's hospital with a fever do to an infection he had been battling in his right foot caused from a callus. After having a CAT scan and an MRI preformed, the doctors came back with the dreaded news that the infection had moved into the bone in his right foot. History was repeating itself. They all knew what had to be done. On Friday July 30, 2021, Mike went into surgery to have his right foot amputated. His surgery went as planned lasting two hours. Four days later he was released to go home and began the healing process.

Nothing can ever prepare a person for the helpless feeling of having no feet. Mentally he is having a difficult time with the reality of losing his independence. He wonders who is gong to take care of the everyday chores that need to be done around the farm? He wonders how he will ever be able to do all of the things he loves to do? He wonders how he is going to be able to pay all his bills when he won't be able to work for a lengthy period of time? This is where you can help ease some of his worries so he can focus on his recovery. Whether it be by prayers, donations or even lending a hand around the farm, he will appreciate and be grateful for all your support. He continues to stay positive and is determined to live a happy healthy life as a double amputee.

Thank You and God Bless You All!
