Mike needs immediate surgery to save his left eye

Recently, my friend Mike was assaulted; the result leaving him with multiple skull fractures. After waking up in the hospital, the emergency doctor told him that he has an extra-ocular muscle entrapment; which essentially means his eye socket was crushed so badly it could potentially blind him for life.

The condition is so serious that, in some cases, it can even be fatal. It requires immediate surgery.

Today he goes to a procedure at one of the best hospitals in the country where the doctors will either be peeling his face off or cutting in through his mouth to perform the surgery, as he is currently already blind out of his left eye. The doctors are hoping the procedure fixes this.

Mike is a close friend and an exceptional artist. Mike has spent the last several years selflessly teaching art to kids, advocating for mental health and harm reduction for those that can’t advocate for themselves, and curating likeminded people from all over the world into better opportunities; and generally working toward helping create a sustainable future for all that cross his path.

As an artist myself I can’t imagine something like this, putting everything I had worked toward at risk, but that all takes a back seat to the surgery today.

First things first.

In his own words, he is not good at asking for help… this is something he is working on… but the result of this situation has left him no other option; as it has already been life altering, not just physically but all the resulting fall out impacting career, medical bills, trauma, etc.

I made this go fund me to ask anyone and everyone for any kind of support to help with bills and basics so won’t spiral and can have a little wind to his back after this surgery.
