Mike Morris Olympic Training Fund

Hello everyone,

I am proud to announce that I have been selected to participate as an athlete in the Olympic Development Academy. The Olympic Development Academy is a development team with the intention of preparing prospective Olympic cyclists for international competition. This program will provide me with coaching, training, network, and knowledge to reach a higher level of competition-- with the ultimate goal of competing in the Olympic Games.

Sport and competition are my greatest passions in life. I have been a competitive athlete since the age of 4. I have played numerous sports at numerous levels of competition. While pursuing a career in professional rugby, in the summer of 2018, I was selected to participate in "The Next Olympic Hopeful" scouting program at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. This is a scouting program for potential crossover athletes to be selected to train on a path to reach the Olympic Games. As a result of the scouting camp I was proposed an opportunity to begin training as a sprinter in track-cycling.

Although I have NEVER been a competitive cyclist in my life, I decided to leave rugby and pursue this new journey in cycling. With the help of many coaches and other athletes, I have learned and progressed very much since I began training for this sport in the summer of 2018. Ever since I left the Olympic Training Center, I promised myself that I would earn a spot on a USA cycling team. Now that promise has come to life, it is time to execute.

Unlike many other countries, the United States government does NOT fund its olympic athletes, or olympic hopefuls. Because of this, myself and other athletes pay for all expenses out-of-pocket. This includes equipment, bikes, coaching, training fees, travel, and more. Over the past 3 years I have spent tens-of-thousands of dollars on these expenses.

This fund will be used STRICTLY for training expenses. These funds will allow me to receive elite-level coaching and instruction from Team USA sanctioned coaches, and all other services provided to myself through this program.

ANY contribution will provide great help. I am grateful to have a supportive community around me.

When one of us wins, we all win. All of our glory throughout this journey will be SHARED amongst us. I can not do this by myself, it takes a village!
