Mike Lester’s Medical Journey

Mike was diagnosed with Covid-19 on September 1st 2021. After battling it for a few days at home, he was then taken to the hospital on September 5th due to breathing difficulties. He was in holding in the ER due to bed shortages and then was admitted to the Covid Unit on September 6th. Shortly after, he was transferred to ICU for closer monitoring. On September 11th, he was intubated. Since then it has been a roller coaster of events with a lot of ups and downs. He now is still in the ICU and has a tracheostomy and a PEG tube. He is still on the ventilator at this time and is experiencing difficulties with coming off of the sedation. It’s like taking 2 steps forward and 10 back. The doctors have given him a overall good prognosis and still has a lot of hope. However, he is going to have a very long road to recovery with still a lot of unknowns. Mike is a person full of life who loves his friends and family dearly. He is always one to help people along with his wife Crystal. They recently married and was able to move into their beautiful new home and now experiencing this tragedy. Mike is a overall a young and healthy individual. Crystal would never be one to ask but I’m hoping we can rally around her as family, friends and community to help her through this dark time. She is still holding down a full time job to continue their home life but is also commuting back and forth to the hospital daily to be by Mike’s side. We all know that the bills don’t stop piling and the medical expenses grow at a rate that our minds cannot even begin to understand.
