Mike Kucera has been bravely battling bladder cancer for the past 4 years. With each triumph and tragedy encountered during this exhaustive struggle, his wife Shannon Burke has been by his side.

Shannon has displayed a remarkable tenacity devoted to vigilantly overseeing every aspect of his care. Her deep love and commitment to being his advocate have safe-guarded him through a mind-boggling maze of medical complications and setbacks. Through it all, Shannon has steadfastly been Mike's voice, his muscle, his confidant and his soulmate. She has been the epitome of what it means to be a devoted, positive force in Mike's life, motivated by a visceral love and desire to bring him happiness, joy, comfort and peace.

Despite a valiant effort put forth, the trajectory of Mike's fight has taken a harsh turn. Shannon's focus has now been directed to assisting Mike with a comforting hand in life's final journey. In the ultimate expression of compassion, empathy and love, she is invested in supporting him on his journey through the final stage of life on this earth the way he wants to do it, at home with his family.

Together with their son Andrew, daughter-in-law Brie and his beloved canines, Noah and Ellie-Mae, Shannon is determined to make Mike's pilgrimage "home" a time of dignity, love and joy until the end.
