Mike’s Fearless Fight

Dear friends of the Koi family,
My brother-in-law is currently fighting for his life in the hospital. This fundraiser is to help off-set the cost of his medical expenses that are continuing to pile up for his wife and his family.
In early June, Mike had some pain in his leg and went to the doctor. They discovered he had a blood clot. They put him on blood thinners and gave my sister instructions on how to care for him. It wasn't a few days when he started having chest pains so she took him to the emergency room and they found that a clot had moved to his lung. Again, they sent him home with more care instructions.
Leslie was hesitant to let him drive, but he was driving home to Hutto one day from Bastrop and suffered a stroke (the clots went to his brain). This caused a minor car accident. Luckily the construction cone stopped him from more injuries and no other car was involved.
He immediately went into surgery and they removed 5 clots from his brain. After surgery, they discovered a brain bleed. His communication and mobility is impaired, but he recognizes everyone. He is currently going through physical therapy to regain his muscle memory. On Tuesday, July 2nd, they took him back to surgery to put in an IVC Filter to keep the clots from going to his brain again.He seems to be doing much better. He is sitting up and watching baseball and brushing his own teeth.
However, his blood levels now show that he has pancreatic cancer. This is what is possibly causing the clots.
Mike is a strong-willed man and wants to fight with every fiber of his being and HE WILL! Once the clot risk is gone, he will be seeking the best treatment for the cancer.
In the two and a half years that I have known Mike, he never ceases to amaze me. The way he loves his children, his family, and my sister. His patience, his generosity, and his positivity is inspiring. It hurts me so much to know he is going through this so I can't imagine how his parents, siblings, children, wife, and the rest of his family are feeling.
On behalf of Mike and Leslie and their families, your prayers, love, and support is most appreciated. He has a long road ahead and we ask that you continue to pray for him.
