Hello everyone, I'm Tara. If you don't know me, my sister is Crystal Johnson and my brother-in-law is Mike Johnson. As some of you may know, Mike had Squamous Cell Carcinoma toward the end of 2021. He underwent a difficult operation to remove the spot on his face, which was found to have metastasized to his neck and lymph nodes. A skin graft procedure was also needed, taking skin from his leg to reconstruct his face. He also had to go through many radiation treatments. He’s still recovering from those operations.

As of April 2022, Mike had a PET scan and was cleared for any remaining cancer.. However the last few months of 2022, he had severe back pain that got progressively worse and a bad cough that ultimately led to a collapsed lung where he spent over a week in the hospital, waiting for it to heal. During that time, the doctors discovered that the cancer had spread even further. He has several lesions on his lungs (which led to the lung collapse) and a cancerous growth that had spread around his spine and into the bone.

Mike is currently going through more radiation treatments on his spine which has caused him significant pain and has prevented him from being able to work or even walk around right now. After the radiation treatments, he will need to undergo Immunotherapy treatments for the cancer on his lungs. The doctors are hopeful that it will work for his type of cancer, but it will be something that he will have to continue for the rest of his life.

I'm setting up this page to help Mike and Crystal in their time of need. They will most likely not ask anyone for help. With any money received, we will use it towards Mike's medical care. We plan to get him to an integrative physician who can help him recover from the harsh medical treatments that he's currently going through. There are also many supplements, natural therapies, and healthy foods that could be very beneficial and help him get back on his feet, which would obviously not be covered by insurance.
