Mike & Jessie's Next Chapter

Myself, along with many local musicians, friends, and family are coming together to assist with a fundraiser for a fellow musician, my brother Mike and his wife Jessie. Mike has been the bass player for The Ernie’s, Kyle Davis, and for The Jangling Reinharts. He is also known for his master craftsmanship with instrument repairs.

Jessie has a disease called Huntington’s. It is a rare disease that causes the breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. The disease declines an individual’s ability for movement, thinking, and ultimately leads to death.

Jessie was diagnosed about 10 plus years ago and Mike has been there and caring for her every step of the way. Over the last several years the disease started to take over and Jessie began to lose the ability to control her body movements, speech, and the ability to communicate. In 2019 Jessie needed full-time care at home, so Mike being the wonderful person he is took on the responsibility of being her 100% caregiver. This had a huge impact on both of their lives. Mike quit the Jangling Reinharts and performing, began working whenever he could spare time away from taking care of Jessie, and eventually had to work 100% from home. He would take care of Jessie during the day and would only leave the house to go get groceries or pick up repair items from work. Over the last several months Jessie’s condition has worsened and she is now in Hospice care at home. We know the end for Jessie is near and this will be another hard road for Mike to deal with.

We are hoping to raise funds for the expenses Mike and Jessie have incurred and for the costs that are inevitable. Any donation no matter the size will make a difference.
