Mike Glover's Heart Recovery

When Mike was 6 years old, he had his first experimental heart surgery, coarctation of the aorta, at Duke University in North Carolina. This was a successful short term fix and another surgery would be needed in about 10 years ... but instead it lasted over 30 years.
On Sunday, September 15th Mike was admitted to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute with chest pains and discovered he desperately needed a heart valve replacement and had an aneurysm.
On Monday, September 16th he underwent open heart surgery to correct the thoracic aortic aneurysm and coarctectomy (valve surgery).
Recovery in CVICU was traumatic. Mike needed oxygen, constant monitoring and at one point his lungs shut down and he had to be resuscitated.
On Thursday, September 19th, after Mike experienced complications post op, he had a second surgery to install a permanent pacemaker. He stayed in CVICU until Saturday and was released on Sunday.
At the age of 39, Mike has faced many obstacles and appreciates every day he has on this earth. Mike is a personal trainer, does not have health insurance and is faced with a long recovery period. He will be unable to work for at least 8 weeks and requires in home health care along with follow up appointments and medications.
Mike Glover has lived on the Treasure Coast since he was 18 years old, he is active in the community helping many achieve their health and fitness goals. Mike realizes that he is in a tough financial situation, is swallowing his pride and asking for help to cover these unexpected expenses. He feels very blessed to have the love and support of his family and friends, along with this opportunity to live a healthier life.
