Hello everyone,
For those of us who have been blessed with the opportunity to know Michael, we recognize him as a proud father, a loving husband, and a loyal friend. He has dedicated the last 15 years of life to working for Curtis Trailers and is practically family to many of us. Over the course of the past few years life has thrown him and his family several challenges that he has fought valiantly to overcome - but today he needs our help.
The first obstacle that he overcame was the life-changing heart attack that he suffered almost 3 years ago. This took quite the toll on him physically and required that he miss a substantial amount of work while his body recovered. At times, the financial burden he was faced with seemed insurmountable. However, with the love and support of his friends and family, he persevered this difficult situation and fought his way back to health. Mike returned to work and began the process of gaining back his family's financial stability.
Just 2 short years later he was again faced with a difficult challenge. This time he was diagnosed with severe blood clots in his legs, a major health risk that once more required him to take time away from work for his body to recover. Just like the previous challenge, Mike bravely confronted it head on. With the support of his family, he again battled back and refused to succumb to the difficulties that life was throwing his way.
He is now being challenged with the hardest test that he and his family have ever faced. After several concerning doctors visits, and just a few days after Thanksgiving, it was discovered that he was striken with multiple cancerous tumors on one of his kidneys and that this kidney would need to be removed to prevent further complications. While there is no good time to learn such devestating news, the holiday season in particular can be one of the most difficult times to navigate these waters. Mike has been on medical leave ever since his condition was discovered. He is currently battling through the medical procedures needed to get his health back on track. The road to recovery will be long and difficult, and Mike is cognizant of that reality. But with a little love and support from his family and friends I know that Mike has the strength and courage to overcome the trials and tribulations that cancer has forced upon him.
I started this GoFundMe in an effort to help Mike - a wonderful father, husband, friend and co-worker - with the dire financial situation that he is currently faced with. While many of us spent the holidays visiting with family and exchanging gifts; Mike and his family were trying to figure out how make ends meet and keep a roof over their head. I am asking that everyone who knows Mike and is a position to help, please donate whatever you can to help him overcome the greatest challenge of his life. Any amount will help and everything donated will go to Mike and his family to help cover the expenses of medical bills, rent, and food.
Thank you all in advance for the support!
