In 2008 Mike joined the US Army as an active duty soldier he served in Afghanistan. He served the US army until the spring of 2017. At that time he had noticed some discomfort and swelling in his groin and wrote it off to increased physical activity. Well, the pain never subsided. After seeing multiple doctors he was finally referred to a urologist where is received the devastating news that he had testicular cancer. He had always lived a healthy lifestyle so he was shocked when Dr. Cohen gave him the news. The cancer was thought to be localized enough to utilize surgical intervention for treatment. The surgery was preformed and up until a couple months ago he had thought the cancer journey had ended. Recently he has been waking through the night with excruciating abdominal pain. July 23rd he ventured to the Emergency Room where they preformed a battery of tests. A CT found a large cancerous tumor in his stomach. Another devastating diagnosis. He recently had a port inserted for his upcoming chemo treatments which will begin Monday, August 10th. Prayers for Mike are much appreciated. Please pray for pain relief, pray for the chemo to kill the tumor, and pray for the doctor who are treating him to be guided to the best treatment plan. Pain has been a major obstacle for Mike. One of the only things that has been helping is distraction so he is focusing on something he's always wanted to do which is to build his own Jeep for competitions but now there is a little twist in his vision! He wants to share his story and raise awareness for prostate cancer. While he realizes he has a long road ahead of him and may not be able to race or build anytime soon he's dreaming of this project to help others and dull the pain. We have no idea how long this road will be or how he will react to the chemo but bills are piling up quickly and any prayers or donations are appreciated more than you will ever know! Thank you so much for taking the time to read his story!
