Mike Chinadi - Veteran, Sensei and Friend

On April 21, 2025 Mike Chinadi passed away from what is thought to have been a stroke. He passed away with friends near, and in his gi, teaching class.

First of all HUGE thank yous to everyone who has supported our fundraiser thus far. Many thanks for your generosity. We are over halfway there. A special thank you to David Rumball from his unit for donating a cremation plot for him; to Stuart Ross for all his help in every way; and the owners of The Only and McThirstys for allowing us to take over to remember him. These were his favourite places. Unfortunately given Mike’s non traditional will, accessing government death benefit funds and other monies may not be doable. We are looking at what options we may have. Because of your generosity we are able to move forward.

We have a great lawyer, a helpful banker, and an amazing funeral director but unfortunately too much red tape.

We are trying to work with the CRA to ensure they have everything they need which is something else entirely as we are responsible for his taxes next year.

If you could continue to share this fundraiser with your contacts and any one who might have known Mike that would be appreciated. No matter what, Brett and I are committed to follow through with Mike’s wishes so please do not feel that you have to donate. Just encouraging others to share this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated.

Death is a part of life. Please get your affairs in order if you have not done so already as without having things organized it becomes very challenging for your loved ones.
