An Ohio lineman’s fight
Yesterday our world turned upside down. As a wife ,Paige Carter got the phone call that no wife would ever want to get.
The caller stated that her husband Michael, A 27 year old electric lineman had been injured and was being loaded on A care flight to go to University of Cincinnati. They would say no more. She had heard of the stories of the calls from the union representative, this was her nightmare coming to life.
Michael, as I type this, is scheduled for his 3rd surgery with multiple more to come. Multiple muscles and parts of skin have been removed. We are still waiting to hear how bad some of his ribs were effected and if those will need to come out also. Once all these surgeries are complete we can then place muscles where they are needed and skin grafts where they belong. The guesstimate is every other day there will be a surgery to fix the damage done to his body, with the severe electrical burns. He is under constant monitoring and currently intubated so he can stay as comfortable as possible.
Paige, his wife has applied for FMLA but will not receive pay during her time off. Michael will get only a percentage of his pay that we know of. The next few months are critical. Mentally, physically and emotionally we are starting this go fund me to help the young couple out. The hospital is 50 minutes one way and this will not be a short term ordeal. We are looking at weeks of surgery followed by physical therapy and months in the hospital. These donations will also help with modifications to the home for when he arrives and this is all based on his condition when he is released from the hospital
