Mike Caldwell's War with Cancer
Donation protected
Mike has been at war with colon cancer since June of 2015. He has gone thru a colonoscopy, colonoscopy reversal, chemo, radiation, proton therapy, maintenance, ITP (Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura), diabetes, and metastasation of colon cancer to his lungs. His war has been a long and incredibly hard one and it is not over. The next huge battle is in the foreseeable future and he needs your help.
Mike had a PET scan on February 1, 2021, to see if a spot on his left lung was inflammation from his proton therapy, or if the mass that was there previously resisted the therapy. Unfortunately, It looks as though it was not inflammation, and the therapy had little to no effect on the mass. Which leads us to another surgery in the near future.
We were recommended to a surgeon to discuss the removal of the mass...Best bet is a wedge resection, where the surgeon only takes out the area of the lung immediately surrounding the mass. Worst case scenario is the removal of the lung. Either one will require hospital stays, more medications, therapy, and much more.
At this point, just from January alone, we are already close to $8,000 in debt for his maintenance and scan without adding medications to the price. With the upcoming surgery, we are sure the medical bills will grow exponentially. With Mike being on disability, and Steph unable to take a full time job due to the high risk people in the household we could use a little help making the medical bills.
