My name is Orren Thornes and I am humbly and sincerely hoping people can see the story of my friend Mike Perry and his wife Becky and sympathize with their situation. They have each been through more health problems than anyone should ever have to and been wiped out financially more than once because of it, yet kept fighting back, medically, emotionally, mentally, and financially, on their own against all odds, up until now.
This time is the worst ever! Mike was the GM of a company he'd worked at for 16 years while Becky had her own thriving business when cancer hit Mike for the 4th time. This once vibrant man, who would do anything for people, now needs your help. Miracles happen every day and he needs one, but in the meantime in the middle of treatment, suddenly his boss, who'd said he'd keep paying him (since he owed him commissions anyway) not only stopped paying him, but cut off his insurance, too...in the middle of treatment! Can you imagine the jolt?! 16 years of his life, literally saving the company multiple times, and his thanks at the end? Fired...by email, no less.
Mike and Becky have gone from legitimately thinking they could be debt free soon, including paying off their house, to more debt and living on a small disability check while not being sure they can even stay in their house. COBRA insurance was several thousand a month before he could even get on disability. His medical bills aren't the problem anymore, but Becky cares for Mike 24/7 while running the house, so no income from her side at all right now but the bills keep coming.
Whether you're a religious person or not, you've likely heard the phrase, "There by the grace of God go I." What does that mean? It means a situation like this could just as easily happen to you and wouldn't you want sympathetic people to help you out in your dire time of need?
There was a prior request made a year ago, and donations then were appreciated, but times for this couple have gotten so much worse since then. I put a dollar amount for a goal, but after hundreds of thousands Mike and Becky faced in medical bills between the two of them the past decade or so, even just getting the $7,000+ paid out for COBRA would be tremendous. That's the first thing to get covered, but I'd love to see the goal met plus much MUCH more.
Try to put yourself in their situation, reach into your heart, and do what you can. I sincerely thank each of you in advance for all gifts, large and small, along with all the prayer and good thoughts you can muster.
If you'd prefer Venmo, @SiteWolf is mine (if I find they have one, I'll add that instead)
