My father Mike Beckel has had a mass growing on the side of his neck for 4 months and has been too stubborn to go see the doctor. The only reason he decided to go in was because it has been affecting his ability to work. We found out last week that it is cancer, mestastic squamous cell carcinoma.... At this point they dont know specifically where it spread from but they do that he will have to undergo surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Therefore he will not be able to work as much or at all for that matter. He is too proud to ask for help therefore I am making this account for him. But, what we do know is that we have a long road ahead of us... He is going to need help with rent, phone and medical bills, and gas to get too and from rochester for chemotherapy and radiation. I will continue to update this gofundme with test results and information as it comes. As a daughter, I am scared no one wants to hear that their very young father was diagnosed with cancer. We have had our ups and downs but I will always do what I can to help those that I love. The future is uncertain but one thing is certain he is a fighter and he isn't one to give up. UPDATE- At this point, The plan of action was to start induction chemotherapy and 15 rounds of radiation done over the next three weeks. They believe its best to try and shrink the mass with the chemotherapy and radiation before trying to remove it. We truly cant thank everyone enough for all the support we have received! I will continue to update you all during this journey.
