Mike and Chris (Kinsella) DeLaMotte
Donation protected
Two years ago November, 2014, Mike was not feeling well and Chris took him to the emergency room. He ended up having emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix. When they were fixing his appendix, they discovered he had cancer around the outside of his colon. As you would expect, this was quite a shock to Mike and Chris. Mike was off work for all of November, and worked sporadically in December, 2014. In January, 2015, Mike went back into the hospital for another surgery to deal with the cancer and had a Right Hemocoletomy done. The doctor's felt confident the surgery was a success and they would proceed to do 6 month cancer checks on him for the next 2 years.
Mike and Chris at this point were faced with two years of medical deductibles and co-pays and Mike being off work amounting to over $13K they were responsible for paying. Mike's co-workers helped Mike and Chris by donating their vacation time so Mike could have an income coming in because of all the time he was off healing which helped them make their monthly bills but they still were burden with additional medical expenses.
Mike has continued on with his 6 month cancer checks, and this past March (which was the 2 year timeframe) the doctor's found cancer activity once again. Over the past, 2 1/2 months Mike has suffered through many tests and an exploratory surgery to determine the type of cancer he is fighting this time. He received the prognosis of Peritoneal Carcinoma which is cancer of the stomach area. Mike is scheduled to have a very extensive surgery on Tuesday, May 9th. They will be removing several cysts, parts of his colon, and truthfully they do not know at this time what else they may encounter once they begin surgery. Of course, Mike needs all of the prayers you can provide to him to give him strength to endure all of this and beat this! But like everything in life, this comes with a cost....Chris and Mike were just being able to see some light at the end of the financial burden they have been carrying over the last 2 1/2 years and now this. Both of these people are very proud people and Mike has been trying to work as much as possible during the last 3 weeks in tremendous pain because they will really be down only to Chris' salary which is creating a huge financial burden for them. Mike will be in intensive care, followed by a minimum 2 weeks in the hospital and most likely 6-12 weeks off working on his recovery. This will be at minimum 3 months loss of Mike's income and additional medical expenses.
I ask that everyone that reads this post to first offer a prayer that the surgery is successful and that Mike fully recovers and secondly, if you find it in your means to donate something financially to help Mike and Chris to deal with all of the medical bills and loss of income your donation would be so appreciated.
They are my dear friends and both of them are always willing to lend a helping hand. Please consider helping them!
