Hey there! This page is being set up for Mike and Carol Brown. Their story is already one of miracles and healing, but there is still a long road ahead. Mike was approved for a liver transplant in April of this year and received his miracle just a short 9 days later on Easter weekend! The operation has been successful to this point, with minimal complications. Occasional fevers, fluid retention, and oxygen deficits have led to medical adjustments, but he is overall doing very well. The road to recovery began with them moving into an apartment in Durham, and boy are they being missed! He is required to be within a very close proximity to Duke for at least a month upon hospital discharge due to frequent clinical appointments and more importantly, in case of an possible complications. Mike, of course, will be out of work for several months. Carol will be missing multiple weeks as well as to provide the required 24-hour care for him. They have been tremendously and unexpectedly blessed with the support that has been provided to help with medical and extra living expenses. All the while, there is still a significant need including new rejection medications that will be required for a lifetime and are not fully covered under prescription insurance.
So! We are establishing this page in response to the many requests of family and friends who want to know how they can help. Monetary donations and gift cards are both incredible blessings as we covet and appreciate your prayers.
