On Friday evening, October 19, Mike Abram and his fiancé Hayley Praytor were involved in an ATV accident in the mountains. While making a routine turn, the four-wheeler tires dug into the dirt and started to tip the machine over. Hayley as the passenger was ejected, landing directly on her shoulder, ultimately with her head hitting the ground, knocking her unconscious. Fearing the four-wheeler would fall onto Hayley, Mike tried to stop the machine from falling onto her, in turn his right leg was severely broken.
Hayley was rushed to the trauma center for severe head and neck injuries and Mike to the orthopedic drama unit.
Doctors performed several scans and tests on Hayley through he course of Friday night and diagnosed her with severe bruising to the shoulder, road rash, a concussion and whiplash to the neck.
After several rounds of x-rays and scans Friday night, doctors ordered Mike have emergency surgery to stabilize and splint his leg. The initial surgery went off fine and the scans show he broke his lower right leg in four places, from his kneecap down to his ankle with the center two brakes also twisting the bone from the initial force of the ATV.
Doctors will need to place plates, rods and screws into Mike's leg in another round of surgery(s), but are currently concerned with the extreme swelling in his leg muscles, which may require another surgery to relief the pressure.
This fund is being setup to try and differ any costs related to medical and emergency expenses, which wills Hurley be higher than the funds initial goal, related to both Hayley and Mike's injuries, as well as their travel, rehab, specialist visits, in-home care (Doctor's believe Mike could be immobile for 12-weeks after surgery) and any living or at-home expenses/modifications that may be needed. 100% of all funds will be donated to Hayley and Mike.
