Hi, my name is Mikayla. I’m a 26-year-old mom to a wonderful 7-year-old son with special needs. Life has thrown us some major curveballs recently.

I was unexpectedly part of a mass layoff on May 19th, and shortly after, I received a life-changing diagnosis of scleroderma, a rare autoimmune condition. Now, I’m preparing to undergo brain surgery on July 17th at The James in Columbus.

Between bills, time off work, and the extra care our family will need during recovery, we’re overwhelmed. My fiancé is doing everything he can to support us, but with limited PTO and us generally being a dual-income family, we’re stretched thin.
