Mikayla's Fearless Battle with Cancer

Hi Everyone, my name is Deidre. I set up this fundraiser for my dear friend Jennifer Lajka and her daughter Mikayla Jacobs.

This past spring, Jennifer started noticing a difference in Mikayla's gait as she played softball.  Mikayla started complaining of headaches. She began having tremors of her limbs and started to lose use of her leg.

An MRI discovered there was a tumor on Mikayla's brain. After 2 biopsies, the doctors determined it is cancer but are still not entirely certain as to what type. It is believed to be some type of low grade diffused astrocytoma.

Mikayla has just started receiving Proton therapy, which is a type of radiation to target the cancer cells and leave the healthy tissue. She is going 5 days a week for the next 6 weeks to the Proton Therapy clinic, which is over an hour drive one way.

Mikayla just started 7th grade and hopes to get back to softball and choir again. She is an essentric girl who loves school, her doggies, and rock n roll!

I've know Jennifer my entire life. She is a single mom doing the best she can to provide support for Mikayla's health while attempting to keep her job that she needs. She could really use the financial support during this difficult time as medical bills and transportation costs increase.
