Mikaylah Rae's Journey

Hello Everyone,

I hope this page finds you well. My name is Ariel Adams and I am creating this GoFundMe for my sweet, strong, and beautiful cousin, Mikaylah. Mikaylah and I spent our entire childhood's together as we are only ten days apart. She was my best friend growing up, and still is today even through our crazy busy college journeys. This beautiful young woman is 21 years young as was recently diagnosed with a very rare cancer in her appendix. Her case continues to be reviewed by many oncologists and surgeons at the Cancer Center of America in Chicago. While they were able to perform a hemicolectomy to remove some of the metastatic areas in her colon and some of her small intestine, the cancer is not gone. We were told that she was cancer free after her procedure, however, she now has some metastatic areas in her lymph nodes and there are some neuroendocrine tumors that are so rare that they do not show on the PET scan. She has a team of doctors, surgeons, oncologists, endocrinologists and many more, working to figure out a safe way to monitor her as the traditional PET scans are clearly not showing some of the cancer.

My aunt, Mikaylah's mother, is unable to work while they are traveling to and from Chicago from Jackson, Michigan nearly every week. With the expenses of gas, hotel stays, food, and medical expenses, this has placed a financial strain on my family. With that being said, all I need right now is for my aunt to be able to be with my cousin through this tough time without the financial stress.
