Mikayla Christiansen and Family

Hi everyone! This is my sweet roommate Mikayla and on Sunday, January 17th she received a phone call that her mom’s life was tragically taken that evening. Her mom was the kindest lady who sacrificially cared for any and everyone she knew. If you personally know Mikayla, you know that she very much takes after her mom in this way. As Mik and her family are walking through this season of grief and loss, she now has complete responsibility over all her mom's affairs - bills, mortgage, funeral expenses, etc. As you can imagine, this has been a big weight on her this semester as she is nearing graduation, serving in ministry as a Resident Shepherd on campus, taking care of her family, and grieving this loss. Although this has been very heavy, I can say without a doubt that the Lord is carrying her and providing her every need. What a blessing it is that God opens His heart to His children through prayer and His word so that we may know him and find our home in His presence! This is where we have placed our hope.
This situation has multiple layers of emotional, physical, and mental stress with finances being the primary area of concern. As the weeks have gone on it seems that she gets a new bill or has a new financial hurdle to jump through each week. From her own personal loans to settling everything with her mom's estate, there are many needs that she has that need to be met. I have no doubt that our Lord will provide, but I know that He also calls us to step out in faith and be bold enough to ask others to enter hard situations with us. First and foremost, I come to you asking that you commit to praying for Mikayla and her siblings. Pray for family reconciliation, pray for peace, pray that He would establish the work of her hands and bring clarity to post grad plans, pray for endurance in ministry, and pray for rest for her body, mind, and soul in this season.
There have been many friends, family, and complete strangers that have reached out in generosity and she is so thankful! We have made this GoFundMe accessible for any who would feel led to give. Will you join me in praying for if/how the Lord may lead you to give? Although this may seem like a big number, I am confident that God will provide every one of Mikayla’s emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial needs.
We are holding fast to who God is knowing that He is kind in all His ways and faithful in all His words – thank you for your prayers and donations! Feel free to reach out to Kenleigh with any questions you may have.
Scripture to pray over Mikayla and her family:
2 Corinthians 1:3-7
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.”
Ephesians 3:14-21
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
