Hello, my name is Sacha, and on Saturday night 13/9/25 I received some of the worst news ANY equine owner could ever wish to hear.

Unfortunately my beloved Mika had escaped her field and was involved in a road traffic accident and devastatingly hit by a car.

Mika came home to me when she was just two years old, I was only fifteen. I’m now almost 21, and she’s almost 8.

I backed and broke her all myself and we had just qualified for ESUK this year and placed in many local showing classes which I am incredibly proud of us both for.

Her ridden career was just taking off and she was becoming a phenomenal little riding pony, making all my dreams come true.

Mika has been with me through incredible hardship and we have formed a fantastic partnership together. I have recovered from horrific mental health struggles with her by my side and she’s continuously been the thing to pull me out of dark depression and has been exactly what I have lived for.

She is so well tangled in my soul and existence that no one could ever truly understand me without at the very least hearing her name.

Despite the dark days, Mika has also been by my side and has watched me achieve incredible things. She was by my side leaving school, finishing college with 11A*s, and accepted into my first choice university.

Which brings me onto whilst I feel it is necessary to set up this GoFundMe.

Mika has been my constant along this incredibly difficult journey, and I am so close to now reaching the goal of which I have worked towards all my life. I am now just months away from graduating as a registered paediatric nurse with larger aims to become a specialist eating disorders nurse.

Mika aided me in my recovery from the eating disorder of which nearly took my life.

Unfortunately as many are aware University students do not have endless funds. I have had to stop hours at my part time job of which I worked from the age of 16 in order to fund having Mika due to university requirements and regulations.

I am now of course facing an overwhelming vet bill, months upon months of box rest, 24 hour around the clock care, endless physio appointments, check ups and potentially have other decisions to now make and think about.

I am truly willing to give everything I have and own just to see Mika aided through this recovery and to come out the other side fit, well and healthy.

I now live with greater dreams of one day having the ridden pony back i’d worked so hard to produce all by myself but equally I understand that this may not be possible and it all depends on recovery.

With a very heavy heart although this has happened I am just so unbelievably grateful that my beautiful girl is still alive.

I am truly heartbroken and devastated having to do this but all I can do is thank people for their generosity and kindness.
