Mikalyn’s Mission

Mikalyn is my 18 year old daughter and currently serving the Lord in Mombasa, Kenya. She’s at a school/orphanage where daily over 700 kids attend school and approximately 80 live. She is at the school until June this year for her first term of volunteering. (Goal of returning for a year)  The school has many needs as do the children. Africa is tough when it comes to providing for your family and education us the only hope for the children  Most families live on less than $100 per month even with a college degree. Mikalyn raised the money for her personal stay but she’s seeing needs that need to be meet and she needs your help to meet those.

First she has a student who can’t speak or hear but this young girl could hear if she could receive hearing aids. They are available at the cost of $800 that’ll include the Dr visits.
The school is in need of microscopes and lab equipment for the high school. These kids take a test with armed police watching, if they fail the government test, college isn’t even an option. The school has some of the highest % of passing scores in the country. (God has a way of using his ppl). The science room could be expensive to get all the equipment but we believe God will provide. Can you imagine taking a test and using equipment you’ve never even seen to complete the said test? My guess is equipment will cost a few thousand total.
The school also needs to purchase the house in front of the school to use as dorms. Currently the children who live there,  sleep in a converted classroom (we take so many things for granted). But trust me when I say compared to where some of been rescued this is heaven! Cost of the house is between $10k-$15k.
 The school could use another classroom to be built on to house the science room so the kids have room to use the lab. Cost to build room will be $5k.
The school could use an additional car as you can imagine with so many children an parents they often don’t have transportation covered. Cars are more expensive there so a used one is still going to cost $10k.
Children have basic needs for items and we are sure other physical needs will show up as she continues to work with the kids so extra money will be used to purchase eye glasses or take care of necessities they need or pay tuition so the school can survive. The school has many kids who can’t pay and I’ve personally seen them trust God and he’s provided. However God uses people like you an I everyday to provide. I ask you to pray over the needs an ask God what he’d have you commit to  do. This is a Christian school that teaches kids biblically.
