Hello Friends! If you are in the list of people receiving this appeal is because you know and care about Mikaela and Marcus Rydberg and their family. As you probably already know, an aggressive form of cancer has taken a hold of Mikaela: She was diagnosed in October with 3B stage cancer. Since then she has had one surgery, preceded and followed by numerous tests, studies, consultations with specialists of all kinds. A whirlwind came, or so it feels, and has taken over their lives as only cancer will. She and Marcus are still wrapping their heads and hearts around this new reality, while doing all they can to keep a steady ship for their 4 and 2 yr old children. The fact that they are doing all this as immigrants adds complexity to the situation and then…there are the bills. As those of you who have witnessed or experienced cancer firsthand can attest, the bills are daunting and keep piling up by the minute.
Tallying what has already been done (consultation fees, labwork, standard-procedure testing, biopsies, surgery, further biopsies) 10 grand have been incurred with no end in sight. Insurance will take care of it in part, but the deductibles have to be met first and the new year/cycle is about to start. I am starting this GoFundMe effort with a challenge of 5000 – half of the bills at the time of starting the campaign – to this list. We may not meet it or we may surpass it. A report of the actual spending will be available upon request.
An often quoted sayings asks us to not give up before ‘the Miracle” happens. My prayer is that ‘the Miracle’ in question be full recovery, full remission for Mikaela and for precious Serenity to reign in their household throughout this trial.
Any kind of support will make a difference; no amount is too small; support of the intangible kind most appreciated in the form of prayers and letting others know about this effort who may not be in this list.
