Update:
After more than two weeks in coma with round-the-clock care and loving support from family and friends, Mika died in peace at the quiet of dawn after being surrounded by loved ones and music until late into the previous night.
Mika had plans to honor her mother's life and then to visit all the dear ones she had missed seeing during the years since the Camp Fire and her mom's stroke; now instead of moving forward with her we must move forward in her honor, to honor both her and her mother Yolanda and to clear Mika's beautiful partner Nicole of the many bills involved with such an unexpected and heavy loss.
For those of you who have already contributed, we are so grateful! Please share Mika's story widely as there are many in this world she helped during her decades working with folks of all ages with special needs, during her time growing up, and with the effect she had on each person who ever was lucky enough to come into contact with her on the daily.
Please help me to support this very worthy family in their time of deepest grief. Anything helps!
You are also welcome to contact the family here to send your condolences and when the time is right to announce Mika's memorial, (which we still need to plan) we will do so here and also person to person.
Mika was strong and brave and endlessly generous with her love and compassion.
She needs us now to help the ones she called family to know they are not alone, but surrounded by a compassionate community.
~ Peace ~
Mika took the best care of her mom and saw her through her treatments and hospice and now needs to be able to follow through on her mom's wishes and funeral arrangements. But days after her mom's passing she had a heart attack. She is in the hospital and unconscious. Her partner Nicole is at her side as much as the hospital will let her. It has been days now and there is too much for her partner Nicole to do on her own. I am hoping this GoFundMe can help Nicole with the expenses of this medical situation and the loss of income as she is unable to work during this time. If you know Mika and Nicole, you know they are loving and generous and do all they can to help others.
If you are able to help, we will be so grateful.
Please send your love to Mika! We need her to wake up and come back to this life! Please share this.
Mika is a survivor and is the most loving and generous person I know. I consider her a sister and wish there was more I could do; please help me lift her up and lift up the people most dear to her during this moment of her greatest need.
