Miguel’s Homecoming ♾️

Hello, my name is Victoria I am Miguel A. Cortes wife. I'd like to Thank you for taking the time to read my story. A lot of people have reached out and asked how you can help us during this time and have even contributed to the Cortes baby registry. I am eternally grateful for your love and support that I have received in this horrible nightmare. I am currently 7 months pregnant with our first child Giovanni. Thursday, August 24th, 2023 my husband suffered a tragic motorcycle accident and passed away. He served his country in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordinance Second Class (AO2 AW/SW Cortes, Miguel A). I am currently in Japan where we were stationed together when we both served before I got out the military for us to become a family. My husbands passing was very sudden and unexpected. Everyone who knew my husband Miguel knew he had a beautiful spirit and he is a man of God. He was hard working, strong minded, unselfish, caring, funny, goofy and most of all, loved and cared for his family and friends. He jumped for anyone who needed something and made every single person in the room feel important especially me. He was a hopeless romantic my everything and his loss has affected me in so many ways I still can’t wrap my head around it. I know I have to figure out how to start moving forward without him by my side and that’s what kills me the most. The first step I have decided is to move forward in Texas to ensure I can be present for the memorials and his funeral. Being heavily pregnant I only have less than two weeks to return stateside with our dog Chulo before not being able to fly. With that being said I will be giving birth in Texas. We had everything ready and prepared here in Japan for Giovanni’s arrival, but due to the circumstances we have to start fresh all over again stateside. I mention this because there is no way any of our house hold goods (furniture, clothes, personal property, etc.) we have in Japan will make it to Texas before our son’s arrival. This results in not having the opportunity to plan ahead and the cost is high. Again, I’d like to thank you for taking a moment out of your day to read this. I know this step in life will be challenging, but I also know Miguel is watching over us, and his legacy will live on in our beautiful son. He is my everything, and I will not fail him no matter the circumstances. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated and please feel free to share this publicly.
