Hello, my name is Miguel Azzarello, and I am 30 years old. My life took a drastic turn at the age of 11 when both of my kidneys suddenly stopped working. This moment marked the beginning of a long and challenging journey for my family and me.
At just 11 years old, I was thrown into the world of dialysis, which I endured for a year and a half. Fortunately, on December 11th, 2007, I received a kidney transplant from my mom. While the transplant initially went well, complications arose that led to a near-fatal incident where my lungs filled with fluid, and I passed away. Thankfully, I was revived after two days in a coma.
Fast forward nearly 13 years, after battling numerous minor rejections and undergoing various treatments, my transplanted kidney completely stopped functioning in 2019. This unfortunate turn of events has placed me back on peritoneal dialysis. I started with a cycler for overnight treatments, but due to the many peritonitis infections I suffered, I switched to manual exchanges. Now, I am doing 5 treatments a day, every 3 hours, every single day, which has taken a significant toll on my body and completely altered my lifestyle.
As a single young father in the midst of a challenging 3-year family court battle, I am facing financial, mental, and physical hardships. While I receive disability once a month and have legal aid to assist with my lawyer expenses, the stress of accumulating bills is overwhelming.
All donations will go directly towards paying bills, helping with rent, and covering day-to-day expenses. My priority is to support my daughter and ensure she has everything she needs, especially during these difficult times. Surviving on a monthly disability check has become increasingly challenging, especially with rising living costs.
I know that my life expectancy is shorter due to my health condition, I want to do everything possible to be there for my daughter. Your donations and shares of this campaign would help tremendously and mean the world to me.
