Migrant Crisis Study Abroad Trip

Get to know me:
My name is Sara - I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico and am a dual graduate student at New Mexico State University studying Social Work & Public Health. I am focusing on maternal and child health and have an interest in immigration and refugee populations.

This summer:
I was accepted to complete a service-learning course in Munich, Germany for 10 days with New Mexico State University titled - Europe's Migration Crisis - Service Learning Study Abroad Course - working specifically with Syrian refugees.

As you may already know - Munich is bearing the brunt of the incoming Syrian refugee population in Europe and as a future social work  & public health professional, I am enthused to learn more about how the German government and nongovernment sectors are handling the crisis - especially healthcare concerns. This course includes a heavy service learning component - each student will be matched with a nonprofit which we will work with daily - in addition to daily seminars/lectures/or tours.

Check out the updates to this campaign often with information I learn leading up to departure - including the mandatory podcasts and travel blogs I will participate in!

I have wondered for in the back of my mind for years and years if I could handle international work - and I am incredibly excited and humbled that God has provided this opportunity for me to get a taste of what such work could look like.

Micah 6:8 “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

What this GoFundMe Campaign will cover:
$500 deposit;
$1420 plane ticket;
$580 for various items like 10-day rail pass, meals, emergency funds, any leftover will be put towards the tuition costs for the course which is charged to my student account;

Any amount is helpful and appreciated!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for considering a contribution!
In God's Love -
Sara
