If you're reading this and know Jon Migliara, that's probably 'nuff said. For those of you who don't know, here's a little bit about what I know about Jon.
Jon and I met about 14-15 years ago. We met in Orlando, FL in the recovery community. Despite Jon's "rough" exterior, tattoos, and all around beast-mode, he's one of the kindest, most gentle, compassionate humans I know.
As many of us, not only in the recovery communities, Jon's not had an easy life. He works hard for what he has, maybe too hard sometimes. Yet, you would never know just how difficult his life was or whatever he is going through because he always meets life with a smile and a hug. He has an unwavering faith in the Universe and the plan set before him.
Even with the year he's had, he still stays strong and positive.
On March 1, 2019, Jon was diagnosed with gastroesophageal junction and stomach adenocarcinoma. Jon had been battling symptoms for a long time but who doesn't have indigestion and gastrointestinal problems these days.
In April he began chemo & radiation, which lasted through May. At that time he began a regimen of homeopathic & Ayurvedic medicine, vitamin, whole food, and herbal supplements, alongside the prescribed conventional medication he needs.
His ability to eat and swallow has been compromised, to say the least. Since April, he and his fiancée, Linda, have been using trial and error to keep his nutrients up. They'll try one thing and if it doesn't work, Jon ends up vomiting for a day or two and then they try something else. Most days he can only handle liquids. So there's protein powders, shakes, and supplements for that.
Last week, a PET scan showed the cancer had spread to his lungs, liver, lymph nodes, and peritoneal area. The doctor stated without chemo, he would have about 6 months to live. With chemo, he would need to be on it the rest of his life. If anyone could prove them wrong, it's Jon.
Before they can move forward, he needs to have an Echocardiogram to evaluate the strength of his heart and a brain scan to determine if any of the previous treatments have left any damage. His immune system is so weakened, even a common cold could be deadly. As the weather gets colder, Jon won't be going outside much. Leaving much of the daily household duties on Linda's shoulders.
As you can imagine all of this has had a huge impact on their lives. Jon hasn't been able to work since February. Their household income has reduced by more than 60%. They're running out of assets to sell. They are behind on their mortgage, utilities, phone, and pretty much struggling to survive.
The money raised will go towards any medical and living expenses. They plan to continue his healing protocols: chiropractic, acupuncture, supplements, prescription meds, and edibles. All of which can be costly.
I've been with Jon through some of the toughest times, watched him scratch and claw his way out of the depths, and become the man he is today. He's found the love of his life with Linda, who must be an angel to deal with him on the daily. Ha! Just kidding... From what I know of their connection, they couldn't be more perfect for one another. Thankfully, her education with natural healing has been invaluable.
Not sure what more I can say except to say how much I love Jon & have always considered him family. Every donation, no matter the amount, can help. If you can't donate, please share with others who might be able to.
Jon's the type of guy who would give his last meal, his last dollar, or the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. Let's show him we can do the same for him.
blessings,
Tricia
