Meet Myles Timothy Ryan. Myles was born February 22, 2020, at Boston Children's Hospital.
Although he can’t yet crawl, Myles has a tough mountain to climb.
This sweet little boy is less than a week old and is about to undergo open heart surgery.
In utero, it was found that Myles suffers from an extremely rare heart condition, one where his tiny little heart has multiple major defects. Physicians at Albany Medical Center had never seen these defects all in one child, so Myles was referred to the Department of Cardiology at Boston Children's Hospital where he is currently receiving care.
While Myles' long-term future is cloudy at this point, what is clear is the immediate need for the best medical care available. While only days old, Myles must undergo a complex open-heart surgery in order to survive. Post surgery, Myles is looking at at least a month or two of recovery time in the NICU.
The stress this has put on his mother and father’s shoulders is crushing at times. A parent’s worry for their child under normal circumstances can be all-consuming. Add on extreme medical needs, the outside stresses of being in an unfamiliar city, and the expenses that will pile up, it is simply overwhelming.
The out of pocket costs for his medical needs, as well as his parents' lodge and travel are currently estimated to be upwards of $15,000. This young family needs our help offsetting those costs.
While weighing just 5 lbs 7 ounces and 18 inches long, he is small but mighty and together, we will help him conquer this mountain.
