To begin, we would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for each and every single prayer, thought, and well wish for McKenna. We truly have been blown away by the outpouring of love and support during this journey to wellness.
McKenna Brooke Marler, baby sister to Cayden Lee Marler, was born on Monday, September 25, 2017 with a heart condition known as TGA (Transposed Greater Arteries). Neither the Drs, nor Haley and Cody (mom and dad) had anticipated the problem, and it was a total devastating shock to go from holding their newborn baby girl, thinking things couldn't be better, to the next moment they are on their way to Birmingham, where their daughter is being airlifted due to lack of oxygen, and being told that there was a good possibility that she had a serious heart condition and wouldn't survive. I, for one, cannot imagine the fear and hurt and disbelief and angst their hearts must feel.
Thankfully we serve a merciful God and have since gotten a diagnosis that, while she is still a very sick little girl, her chances of survival are very improved from what we were told.
Monday, McKenna, at one week old, will undergo corrective open heart surgery. If everything goes perfectly, and we believe it will (again-merciful God), she could possibly go home at the end of next week. Mom and dad are able to be with her at all hours, though they can't hold her, due to the fact that her oxygen levels cannot stabilize and continuously drop to scary levels, so she has to be on life support.
Imagine for a moment that this is your baby that is connected to all these hoses and lines and ventilators to essentially keep her alive right now. There's absolutely nothing anyone could do to make me go home.
The bills don't stop coming just because you're not there.
Please pray about this baby girl and for strength and for her to pull through it all like the trooper she's already destined to be, and also please pray about or consider helping this family get through the coming days and focus on their priority right now, and not how they're going to pay the bills next month.
