Mighty Maxie's Fight Towards Recovery

A little over a month ago, we brought home Maxie, a delicious golden-doodle puppy, who has brought us so much joy and love since the minute we met her. While the short time we had with her was so exciting, things rapidly turned upside down as we began navigating the difficult experience of watching Maxie fight pneumonia at only 8 weeks old, weighing just 1.5 pounds. She has been in a vet emergency care, animal hospital, then critical care at AMC in Manhattan- in a month, she’s spent more time in medical care than with us at home.

One thing you should know about little Maxie, is that she is a fighter, and despite not knowing whether she would make it, she is finally home with us, on medication, and doing better than before.

This emotional rollercoaster has been overwhelming, but the financial burden that comes with the extensive vet bills has added an additional layer of stress.

We are reaching out through this fundraiser to request your support in helping us cover some of the current accumulated vet bills, totaling ~$20,000. Your generosity will make a significant difference, allowing us to relieve a substantial part of the financial strain caused by Maxie’s illness, but also to continue settling bills associated with her recovery (follow-ups, medication, treatments, etc.) Every dollar donated will directly contribute to both Maxie’s health, and ease our worries about the mounting expenses. This experience has taught us about the ins & outs of the puppy mill pipeline in our country. We feel compelled to make an impact and end the suffering of other dogs like Maxie, and any owner who has been hood-winked by puppy mills, backyard breeders, or pet shops. As a start, any funds exceeding our target will be donated to a charity dedicated to stopping the puppy mill pipeline, cruel breeding, & illegal sale of puppies.
