Hi, my name is Gemma and my little boy Mabon Gwyn passed away after fighting so hard against congenital heart disease (CHD). In 2023 he spent nearly 8 months at Alder Hey children's hospital, with the majority of that time being in PICU. The care that Mabon received was absolutely amazing.

2 months today will be Mabon’s 6th birthday and after the amazing response to last years bed sheet appeal I thought it would be nice to do it again. Whilst Mabon was in PICU the staff always made sure that he had lovely colourful bed sheets. It became the topic of conversation every day. The colourful sheets made such a difference whilst being in such a difficult environment. The housekeeper Katie was amazing and always made sure Mabon had a good supply of sheets in his cupboard especially if she waa off for a few days. She also went and bought him a Toy Story sheet so that he could have it on his bed on his birthday. This was so kind and thoughtful.

So this year we would like to give back by buying some colourful bed sheets for the unit as they are always in need of them. Even if you can donate 50p or £1 it will help us to buy some sheets and make a difference. If people would prefer to buy/send some bed sheets please get in touch through Mighty Mabon's Legacy page. We are looking for single and cot fitted bed sheets. We are also hoping to get some Tonies characters and baby sensory toys for the unit and Ward 1C.
