Mighty Ivan's Heart Warrior Journey

Donation protected
Approximately 1 in 100 babies are born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) - and Mighty Ivan is that 1 in 100.

By the time he turned 1, Ivan had already endured more than most do in a lifetime: two open-heart surgeries and 21 days of intubation, with endless days spent in the hospital.

On June 16, 2025, just shy of his second birthday, Ivan went in for what was expected to be a routine cardiac catheterization at Mayo Clinic. During the procedure, his care team discovered a small clot in his mechanical heart valve. He was admitted immediately and began treatment with IV blood thinners and clot-dissolving medications. Despite aggressive care, the clot worsened.

On June 19, Ivan's vital signs began to change. With the quick actions of his amazing team, he had numerous tests and labs performed, which showed Ivan had a moderate brain bleed, consistent with a hemorrhagic stroke.

Ivan underwent a partial craniotomy to relieve pressure in his skull. He continues to be closely monitored in the CVICU, where his medical team works tirelessly to keep him stable and comfortable, minimizing stimulation to protect his brain.

Ivan's left side was affected by the stroke, but his team is hopeful that rehab will help overcome the stroke deficits. He continues to remain stable, but has developed pneumonia from being intubated.

Ivan's journey is far from over. Every step of the way, he is surrounded by the love and strength of his parents, Nick and Vanessa Rogich, who remain by his side day and night - collaborating with his medical team, advocating for their son, and holding onto hope.

The funds raised through this page with help ease the financial burdens they face - during their time away from home and their careers, and in the journey that lies beyond.

Every prayer lifted for Mighty Ivan, his extraordinary care team at Mayo Clinic, and his courageous parents means the world. Thank you for walking this journey with them.
