Midwifery Student Placement in Haida Gwaii

Hi Friends!

I am desperately trying to gather funds for my trip out to Haida Gwaii for my third year Midwifery placement (as the original funding I was counting on has fallen through). The funds I raise will go towards my travel, accommodation and food costs for 1 month.

As many of you may know my journey to become a Midwife has been a long and tiring one. Having lived in Toronto my entire life, I can proudly say that I am urban to the core. I can navigate a city like a ninja. It is my strength. My trip out to Haida Gwaii will allow me to experience the realities faced by remote communities and learn new skills to navigate this unique setting. As more and more remote Indigenous communities work to bring birth home, I hope to learn more about the challenges they face in this endeavour and work in allyship as an urbanite to make this road less treacherous.
