Midwife seeks delivery from financial stress

Friends, I’ve set up this GoFundMe account for a long-time, dear friend who was suddenly widowed a few years ago and now experiencing some really difficult times.

Kim is currently being treated for stage 3 HRE/PR positive breast cancer at the Stephanie Spielman Breast Cancer Center and the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. To receive this live-saving treatment, she needs to travel from her home in Kentucky. Although she is recovering well from surgery, she is still facing chemotherapy and radiation therapy, which is putting a strain on her job situation.

She is a loving person, dedicated to supporting women as a midwife. Unfortunately has not been able to work since early December when her surgery took place. She is now without income or insurance and is quickly draining her remaining savings.

COBRA insurance premiums, along with mortgage, car, utility payments and groceries are taking a toll on her bank account and her self esteem.

She will be eligible for Medicare in May, which will be a big help. Kim is currently in negotiations for a 1-2 year job contract and is hopeful about finding something permanent.
