Midwest Cookie Company - Nicole Gray

Donation protected
Nicole Gray was previously the face of Sugar Rush, a treat boutique in Olathe, KS. Last year, a falling apart with her co owner, who is also her mother has caused a strain in her now successful business; Midwest Cookie Company.

Nicole's mother had an opportunity to come to the store when they were closing their doors in 2018 and claim any tools and materials she wished. She failed to show up and thus resulted in Nicole claiming materials to make her new budding business a success. Things included: mixers (large and small), spatulas, cookie cutters, cake pans, cupcake pans, baking sheets, shelving, icing tips, even Tupperware to hold wonderful treats, and more. Since these items would normally be sold, donated or thrown out; Nicole jumped at the chance to use them in her business. A verbal agreement was made that Nicole would be able to use these things to help herself and her business take off since nobody was using it anymore.

Fast forward to spring of 2019 and you see this former business partner and mother suing Nicole for all bakery equipment she owns. This woman was granted all property that was formerly in Sugar Rush. This mother that was supposed to be thrilled and supportive that her daughter was successful has now taken everything that allows this business to thrive. Every cookie cutter, every pan, every tiny icing tip, every piece of Tupperware, and more is gone from Nicole's kitchen and into the hands of someone who's sole purpose is to sell it for profit. Nicole has to dig into her life savings that was meant for a house to rebuy all of her materials just to make her business function.

Nicole has offered to purchase the materials from her mother at a very reasonable price, but her mother refused to allow her to purchase the materials she desperately needs in such a busy season of baking with weddings and graduation coming up. Nicole saw this as her only option to hang on to her necessary materials. She was shot down at the chance to rebuy without any reasonable negotiation.

Nicole has always had a drive to own her own business. One that brings delicious treats and smiles to faces! Since she has been an independent owner in Midwest Cookie Company, she has wowed her clients with her delicious cookies, cakes, cupcakes, cake pops and more. Nicole has the kindest heart. She  always says "yes" to anyone who is in need and she strives to make everyone in her life feel loved, wanted, and happy.
