Hello!
My name is Eric Vanase. I am trying to raise money to ride my bicycle from Austin Texas to the Arctic Circle in alaska for the summer solstice. The purpose of this ride is to explore different methods of bicyclce touring through a wide range of enviroments, and to find the perfect combination of supplies and technique that will allow anyone to ride long distances for less than the cost of driving a car. I will be keeping a strict buget and log to track progress throughout the ride.
In order to ride the 4800 or so miles to the Arctic Circle by June 20, I will leave no later than April 1. The money raised here will be spent after i have used all of my own savings. Any money is left over after the ride will go to a local Austin bicyle based charity.
Qualifications: This will be my fourth long tour. I have logged over 10,000 miles riding though 24 states. I have toured the southern desert in July and in below freezing weather on the east coast. I am also a professoinal bicycle mechanic by trade. I have mastered the art of bicycle maintenance and repair, and have all the tools and knowledge I need to completely tear my bike apart and put it back together on the side of the road. I have outfit myself with a brand new bike for this tour, costom built by myself for this very purpose ( a Long Haul Trucker, aptly named). And Lastly I have a full set of tried and true gear that I will be taking. From my costom homemade hammock, to the 70 liter drybag it all goes into. This isnt a crazy dream, but a well thought out plan with a high chance of success, and I would love to bring you along for the ride!
Thank you fo reading and considering a donation. See you on the road!
