Middle School State Winners Attend Nationals

On February 3, 2023, local students competed in the State of Florida, We the People, mock congressional hearing competition. Last week, they learned that they took 1st place in the state! They've officially been invited to Nationals in Washington D.C. April 19-24, 2023 and the kids are incredibly excited! Information on the competition can be found here: NATIONALS!

The $2,097/pp fee to attend Nationals is cost-prohibitive. This cost per person includes air or train from Ft Lauderdale to D.C., the hotel (4 kids per room), all meals, medical/accident insurance, on-site coordinator in the hotel, night chaperones in all student hallways, and tours of D.C. when not in competition.

THIS IS A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY FOR THE STUDENTS!

A deposit of $600 per student is due March 20th. This fundraiser aims to raise, at a minimum, the deposit for each of the 35 kids.

If you feel so inclined, please consider donating to this cause. Any funds raised will be divided equally amongst the 35 students that made it to Nationals. If they end up not being able to attend Washington D.C., Nationals will allow the kids to compete from their classroom on Zoom (this is obviously not preferred by the kids). If they cannot raise enough money for D.C., your donation will be used to provide something fun for the kids (other nearby travel, food, gifts, etc). The kids are giving up their end-of-year field trip to Universal Studios to attend nationals (it's on the same date). So, if they cannot raise enough money to travel to D.C., any donated funds will be used to take them on a more affordable end-of-year trip after Nationals is over.

100% of the donations will be sent directly to the school for use by the students on this trip.
