MID VALLEY NOISE
MID VALLEY NOISE is a semi-weekly entertainment and culture guide documenting Oregon’s Willamette Valley and select points beyond (Albany, Corvallis, Eugene, Salem, Portland).
The site, www.mvnoise.com, was launched in October 2020 by Cory Frye, former editor of the Albany Democrat-Herald and Corvallis Gazette-Times. He was also instrumental in the development of the two organs’ entertainment coverage in the 1990s.
Previously, Frye was an editor at Rhino Entertainment Company in Los Angeles, Calif., where he was an executive producer on the 7-CD "Whatever: The ’90s Pop & Culture Box" (2005) and the Afghan Whigs career retrospective, "Unbreakable" (2007). His work has appeared in Under the Radar, Stereo Subversion, and Yahoo!, as well as expanded reissues of Van Morrison’s lauded Astral Weeks and His Band and the Street Choir albums. His first book, Murder in Linn County: The True Story of the Legendary Plainview Killings (History Press), was published in 2016.
In its brief lifetime, MVN has also featured the work of former Democrat-Herald/Gazette-Times and The E editor Mike McInally and Democrat-Herald correspondent Jennifer Moody. Both are respected writers in the mid-valley arts community, and all three are recipients of multiple Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association and Society of Professional Journalists citations with a combined 90-plus years of experience.
As we build our regional advertising base, MID VALLEY NOISE seeks funding to maintain a monthly budget for freelance writers, photographers, and videographers, to keep residents and visitors apprised of news, personalities, pioneers, figures, and bands in an ever-expansive field.
