Mid North Coast Flood Animal & Vet Assistance
Donation protected
We are a group of 4 animal loving women from the Mid North Coast of NSW. Our community neighbours at Taree , Wingham and surrounding areas have been hammered by the most intense East Coast low / rain bomb over the past 4 days, after very heavy rains since the start of April.
The extent of the flood area over our rural / regional community is mind blowing. The efforts of local people and emergency services to rescue those stranded by flood waters that rose unbelievably quickly, was heroic. Many farmers and livestock owners in the area had little time to move stock to higher ground, or the higher ground became innudated too.
Tales of herds of cattle being sweeped along in the fast moving currents, bellowing for help and their herd members. Horse owners posting social media photos of their horses that were swept away, hoping someone will spot them in the chaos. Cattle and calves being washed up at local beaches at Old Bar, Forster and even at Bluey's Beach, some perished, some still alive.
Dozens and dozens of pets, dogs, cats, rescued, wet and cold but safe. Some still to be found and some not so lucky. Our hearts break for their owners.
As the flood waters slowly start to receed over the next days and weeks, horses, cattle, alpacas, sheep, poultry , dogs, cats and wildlife will be found and in need of Veterinary attention. The animals that survive this awful ordeal have been exposed to the elements, cold, hungry and in dirty flood water for days.
We are raising funds to help the Animal parents in our community, that have lost their homes, cars, personal items and income in the short term. We want them to be able to get the Vet Care they need for their pets and livestock, without the worry of how will they pay the vet bill.
We also want to support our local vets who are all legends and already do so much in this community for those less fortunate.
The funds raised will be available at 8 local vet clinics at Taree, Wingham, Forster, Old Bar, Harrington, Gloucester and Bulahdelah.
The vets know their clients & their pets the best and will be best placed to distribute the donated funds to those most in need of veterinary care/ financial support. So you can be assured your kind donation and hard earned money is going to those that need it most.
Wildlife carers will be able to access funds through the vets also.
There will be animals getting sick from this horrible natural disaster for weeks and even months to come so every coin helps.
Please share with your animal loving friends. If we can all chip in just $5 or $10 each, the amount will climb quickly and be available almost immediately for pet parents in need.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for helping out the flood affected animals of the Mid North Coast NSW.
