Mic's Amputation Recovery

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for my father Michael Brodeur. Loving father of 5, long time resident of Marlborough,MA, graduate of Assabett Valley tech auto body shop, known by most for his passion for auto body. This is to help cover costs of living like rent, food, utility bills, car loans etc not only for his personal life but for his auto body shop costs as well. Here is his story.
10 years ago Mic was in a motorcycle accident. His leg was crushed and he needed surgury to fix his broken leg. A metal rod was inserted into his bone to keep it all together. Surgery went well and he has lived a productive life since then with no issues.
Last year in March Mic developed and blockage in his leg, cutting off the blood flow to his foot. He under went vein stripping to remove it and they inserted a stent to keep the vein open. He recovered and went back to work. Things seemed to be going well and he had no issues for a year.
This August he started to have pain in his leg. He went back in to see the surgeon who had inserted his stent. The stent had collapsed. He was evaluated and they checked to see if they could repair it. No luck, the vein had also sagged at the end of the stent making it impossible to fix. At this point the next option is bypass surgery. This is a procedure where they take a good vein and connect it to the main artery in his leg to bypass the problem spot. He went in for surgery last week. Within 24 hours after surgery it failed and he was rushed in for another bypass. After spending a few days in ICU he was discharged.
Mic spent about 3 or 4 days at home before he was asked to come in for a check up. He was informed that he had no blood flow to the lower half of his leg. The surgery failed again. At this point the only option left is amputation. His leg is dying due to lack of blood. His foot is purple and cold. The surgeon originally wanted to amputate below the knee but due to the metal rod from his motorcycle accident he has to now amputate above the knee. Mic is scheduled for amputation this week.
My father has been a very active person and he is not going to give up. He has every intention of returning to work once he has a prosthetic leg and learns how to walk with it. This is going to be a long and hard journey. There are many obstacles ahead and unknowns. We are asking for your help to keep him financially stable during this time. Any donations help, big or small. Please share, share, share. We need your help with getting his message to friends and distant family. Thank you.
