Microfinancing and School Support for NEPAL

Donation protected
Our Goal is to empower a Community in Nepal to be self sufficient after being hit by disaster. Our Focus is on EDUCATION and MICROCREDITS to empower the People in our target Region.

Why this Community?
Nepal is one of the underdeveloped countries and the average living standard of most people of this country is below the global poverty line. As in many other underdeveloped countries, Nepal also has problems of child labor, lack of education, poverty and other child-related problems. More then 90% of families cannot afford to send their children to good schools. They can’t afford to buy necessary stationery, uniforms and other school supplies that are required for their child’s education, resulting in the children’s inability to go into higher education and create a better life for themselves and their families.
In April 2015, an 8.1 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, killing at least 9,000 individuals and injuring over 22,000 more. Although the earthquake took place over 7 years ago, its effects still linger. Many families continue to struggle with everyday necessities due to the earthquake’s destruction of infrastructure and ongoing lack of opportunities for employment. They still live in temporary structures and minimal aid has been distributed to these families.

Who are We?
My Name is Andreas Schindler. I run an IT Company in Austria. Since 2019 I have supported Care4Nepal as much as I can.
Herchaha Nepal (Care4nepal) has launched a dedicated effort since the earthquake to provide education to children whose homes were affected by the earthquake. 100% of the donations go toward funding tuition for these students and supporting community families.
Since this campaign launched in 2016, Care4Nepal is now supporting 66 children for their education and 60 community families for their economic growth.
Prakash Dangol is my contact from Care4Nepal who personally takes care that every cent is used properly to support the community.

Why Microfinancing?
I believe that helping people to help themselves - wherever possible - is better than just supporting people in need.
That's why Prakash and I started a Pilot Microfinancing Project in 2021. I donated 2000 EUR to loan to 20 families. The families purchased goats, chickens, and lemon trees from this money. 15 out of the 20 families were able to pay back the money within less than one year. The money is used to empower the next family to purchase means of production to make them provide a means of income for themselves as well. A goat costs about 100 EU and provides an income of 200 EUR per year.
Besides getting the means to earn money, our microfinancing program teaches families to operate economically and sustainably. By paying back the money they give back to the community. Microfinancing allows us to keep supporting more people with the same money.

Why School Support?
It costs about 600EUR per year for a child to attend school. Most families are not able to pay for school. But without education, the next generation won't be able to get a decent job and poverty will be prolonged. That's why we consider it so important to ensure that kids get a proper education.

What are our Plans for 2023?
There are more than 200 families needing support. only 20 were covered in the last microfinancing program. We want to support all of them purchase goats, chickens, and plants in our micro financing system. On Top of this we plan to purchase a Tractor for the community (1200 EUR) this will make agriculture easier for about 150 families. The Tractor should be repaid within two years. We also want to build three community greenhouses (5000 EUR each) to produce seasonal vegetable plants and fruit plants to distribute to families. More than 150 families will have direct benefits from this. We would grow organic vegetables in these greenhouses and teach families about organic vegetables.
For this school year, we have 65 children. Next year we would like to support 100. We need 60.000 EUR to cover the cost, half of the cost for education is covered by other donations but 30.000 are still missing.

How much money do we need in 2023?
We need 10.000 EUR as soon as possible (this January) to pay for the Tractor, cover due school costs, and build the first greenhouse.
To complete the greenhouse Project we need another 10.000 EUR. We would like to extend the microcredit project for goats and poultry with at least 15.000 EUR.
For the School support, 30.000 EUR is needed.
A total of 35.000 EUR for Community projects and 30.000 EUR for education will empower us to ensure education for 2023 and to make about 1/3rd of the families financially independent.
The microcredit system will ensure that next year the same money will make another 1/3rd of the families financially independent.

How do I know how the money is used?
100% of your donations will be used for microcredit and school support.
I will keep you posted on the project on this page. I will also personally cover all administrative costs that may occur to ensure your money is used as effectively as humanely possible.

If we manage to collect 5.000 EUR till Jan 31st 2023 I (Andreas Schindler) pledge to double this to 10.000 EUR.
