This July (4th–12th), I will represent Ireland at the FIBA Masters Basketball Tournament in Greece.

At 47.

It will be an official national team cap, a privilege earned over decades of commitment to the game.

But this opportunity isn’t just about basketball. It’s about example.

As part of a family immersed in athletics, netball and football, I spend my weekends watching resilience, courage and ambition unfold in real time. I see nerves before competition. I see growth after setbacks. I see bravery that deserves to be matched.

At some point, I realised that if I encourage them to chase bold goals, I have to keep chasing mine too.

If I ask them to commit, I must commit.
If I ask them to be brave, I must be brave.

Competing internationally at 47 demands intention. Recovery is earned. Preparation is deliberate. There is no autopilot.

But the fire is still there.

Representing Ireland at the FIBA Masters Tournament is about more than a tournament.

It’s about proving that:

Goals do not expire.
Pride does not age.
Effort is never wasted.
And wearing your country’s colours is always worth fighting for.

Masters competition is self-funded, and I need to raise £2500 to cover travel, accommodation and tournament costs.

If you support this journey, you’re not just backing a player.

You’re backing a message:

That ambition can outlive comfort.
That discipline compounds.
That belief should be lived, not just spoken.

To my family — you inspire me more than you know. Every race, goal, pass and tackle reminds me what courage looks like. This is my turn to show you the same. No matter how busy life becomes, you are allowed to chase something that sets your heart on fire.

I’ll wear Ireland’s green in Greece.

But I carry you with me every step!
