Micki's post surgical care & continued living fund

Donation protected
Hey everyone ∩^ω^∩ thank you so much for being here with me! My name is Micki and I’m a 23 year old black woman of transfeminine experience currently residing in Ohio. My pronouns are she/her.

I am scheduled to have gender affirming surgery on the 21st of March. I’ve worked tirelessly this past year to accomplish this feat and I’m both elated and proud. I’ve funded this surgery as well as accommodations and care during my 2+ week stay in the city where the procedure will take place however due to the nature of the procedure and it’s recovery I will be taking a month and a half off of work to recuperate and following my return to the capitalist machine I will only be working part-time as I’ll be starting school. In an attempt to ease the anxiety and laborious nature of recovery I’m hoping to raise funds for various bills and expenses related to housing, healthcare, transportation, + daily necessities like food, meds etc. that will accrue over the next 6 months. As I navigate healing and school full time, the first and second semester of my program are the absolute hardest. So I will be using any remaining funds to cover some school related costs and expenses but moreso rent and bills so that I can be attentive with my studies while recovering without working and struggling just to have a roof over my head, my car and other essentials.

Every trans person’s experience with and navigation of gender is different and wholly individual. Speaking for myself I am pursuing surgical means of transition not only to ease the ever-looming presence of gender dysphoria I battle persistently but also because of the safety and security access to these procedures will provide me as a marginalized, oppressed and targeted individual, one whose body, mind and spirit are continually under scrutiny and attack.

I know in the grand scheme of everything going on right now this might seem like something I can push to the back burner or put on hold but simply put, I cannot. This is a matter of my livelihood, safety and survival. I’m calling out to the trans community and our allies in the hopes of obtaining security and peace during my recovery. I, as well as every trans person, have the right to survive, the right to thrive and the right to feel safe + secure while recuperating from these extremely taxing and strenuous procedures. Please help me exercise my right to gender affirming trans care in anyway you can!

I have done an exhaustive amount of work maneuvering our intentionally broken and exclusionary health care system to access these life-saving procedures. The amount of sweat and tears I’ve poured into this cause over the past 12 months as a frontline worker during the pandemic are innumerable and to be frank doing it alone during a pandemic has all but entirely depleted me, physically, mentally and spiritually so I am humbling myself and asking trusted friends and family for assistance. For those in a position to donate, thank you and for those who cannot support financially, I’d be grateful 5ever if you’d show your support through sharing/boosting this campaign to any and every platform you have access to. I cannot thank each and everyone of you enough for considering this cause, my cause.

You can also send donations directly to me as well using Venmo and Cashapp.
