Micki's Colon Cancer Fight

Donation protected
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Amanda Garcia.  Ryan Marcey (Michelle and Mike Marcey's son) was one of my dearest best friends. Ryan’s sudden passing a few years ago was devastating to everyone, especially the Marcey family.

Despite the heartbreak from the loss of Ryan and other health scares within the family over the past year, the Marcey’s faith has never wavered and their love/support of one another and those around them has always stayed strong. But now, it's time for us to do that for them.

On June 6th, 2019,  Mike Marcey was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. After discussion with his doctor, Cyberknife Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (EBRT) was recommended. The CyberKnife System is a non-invasive treatment for cancerous and non-cancerous tumors and other conditions where radiation therapy is indicated. Cyberknife SBRT is known to be more accurate than traditional radiation therapy as it can deliver radiation to a margin of one to five millimeters surrounding a tumor. Fortunately, the Cyberknife treatment allowed Mike to successfully go into remission. However, shortly after Mike received the good news, Michelle (as we all know as Micki), was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer.

On January 28, 2021, a colonoscopy revealed a 3mm mass on Micki's cecum. Thereafter, Micki was referred to a colorectal surgeon who specializes in robotic surgery. Michelle and Mike met with the specialist for more testing which led to scheduling a major secondary surgery.

On March 9, 2021, Micki had her appendix, 12 inches of her colon and 24 lymph nodes removed. After surgery and further examination, the doctor confirmed Micki had colon cancer and recommended chemotherapy. Micki received her port today and she now has six long months of chemotherapy ahead of her. The doctors are hopeful that the chemotherapy will allow her to go into remission so we are also optimistic about her prognosis.

However, as a result, the Marceys have and will continue to endure astronomical costs for all the testing, surgeries and chemotherapy. With that, I’m asking that we do what we can to give back and help them. These last five years have been extremely hard on the family as you can imagine. If you knew Ryan or you know Micki, Mike or Briana, they are the kind of people who would give the shirt off their back to help others in need. I truly don’t know of any family more deserving of a helping hand, especially after navigating through last these last few years after losing their beloved son and battling cancer within the family.

Micki would never ask for financial support, so that is why I’m doing this on the family’s behalf. Micki is such a bright light. She is always so uplifting and positive even during the worst of times. She constantly has a smile on her face and she is always reassuring others that “everything is going to be alright”. I want to show her the same and at least be able to provide some relief by taking this financial burden off the family’s shoulders so she can focus on recovery and healing.

The Marceys want to thank everyone in advance for the support, but also want to express their overwhelming gratitude for all the positive feedback, prayers, and love. The encouragement, support and uplifting energy is what helps them push through. We appreciate you all and love you so much. Thank you for the bottoms of our hearts.
